Links to Dan-related resources on the Net

Steelydan.Com

Official site of Becker and Fagen. Be sure to click on the Siteguide link to find deep archives of the band's activities over the last 12 years.

Dandom.com

The Web home for the original Internet resource on Steely Dan: Jim "Hoops!" McKay's listserv. Hoops is not only a selfless contributor to the cause, but he's a scholar and a gentleman as well. Check out the wonderfully entertaining Bluebook, a guestbook frequented by both well-informed fans and Viagra spammers! (To subscribe to the Digest, send a message with the word "subscribe" in the topic to subscribe@dandom.com.)

Steely Dan Database

The most complete database of Steely Dan releases, concerts, bootlegs, samples... everything that can be databased! A labor of love by Hans Verlouw of the Netherlands.

The Steely Dan Archive

Dedicated site maintained by long-time Danfan Andy Metzger. Includes information on rare and unreleased songs, an extensive archive of articles about the Dan and a colorful guide to song and album information..

The Steely Dan Shrine

Rare lyrics, sound bytes, guitar tabs and links.

Joe Murtha's page

Jazz fan/engineer Joe Murtha offers links to jazz and rock musicians of interest to Dan fans eager to expand their musical horizons.

The Steely Dan Dictionary

Another great idea! An A-Z dictionary of obscure words, people and places — all taken from the lyrics of Steely Dan songs.

Under the Banyan Trees (Now in archive format)

For many years, the best all-around Steely Dan tribute site, host StAl has put the site into archive mode, with the exception of the sometimes dyspeptic guestbook, which since 1995 has been home to a close-knit and knowledgeable community of assassins, cons and rapists.

Steely Dan pin shots

Pete Fogel -- veteran Dan-watcher, Metal Leg publisher and man about town -- weighs in with photographs he's taken of the band in recent years.

Fever Dreams (Currently down)

A wonderful web site creatively devoted to interpreting Steely Dan lyrics. Although this site is currently down, I've got my fingers crossed that Oleander will one day be able to publish again. I've spent many hours enjoying this site.

Other resources

Beat Connections in Rock Music

A fascinating site that documents the many deep connections between Beat movement writers and rock music. Note the section on the derivation of the Steely Dan name. And yes, if you are easily offended you will *not* want to look at this link.

River Sound studio

Home site of River Sound, owned by Donald Fagen. Lists recent clients and equipment.

Metal Leg Index

An index with hypertext links to the now-defunct Metal Leg, the Steely Dan magazine. The fanzine itself is being laboriously, yet lovingly, keyboarded elsewhere on my site.
